Catherine Johnson Broussard is an African American poet, artist and author living in New Orleans Louisiana. "I have always had a need to tell stories and to create, now it's time". I remember writing on pieces of paper as HE spoke to my soul. I knew that HE held my hands guiding me as HE whispered the words into my ears.
Ms. Broussard has a master's degree in social work from Southern University in New Orleans and sits on the board of The National Conference of Artist New Orleans.

My Story
Catherine Johnson Broussard is an African American poet, artist and author living in New Orleans, Louisiana. Ms. Broussard has three amazing children and seven of the greatest blessings a grandmother can pray for. She has a master's degree in social work with an emphasis on mental health. "I have always had a need to write and to tell stories, knowing that my hands were guided by HIS WORDS. I knew that I had to share my words". Ms. Broussard's first works of poetry was published in 1982, while she was the editor of the new paper at Southern University at New Orleans. Thereafter, her poems have appeared in several books and publications. Ms. Broussard is the author of "I KNOW HIM" a book about her unyielding faith and her quest for inner peace and "HIS WORDS", Volume II, a book of inspirational poems. MS. Broussard has two amazing gifts. The first gift is the gift of Dyslexia which was not recognized until her junior year in college. The second gift is the gift of Synesthesia which was identified in 2022. Ms. Broussard's Synesthesia is marked by her ability to see words or phrases in color as she writes and is able to transfer the image she sees onto a canvas. Mrs. Broussard has not had any informal or formal art/painting instructions.
